The Carnival is here again and we are hoping that some nice summer weather makes an appearance (even though on Wednesday we ‘Bless the Wells’, which is a traditional ceremony, giving thanks for our water.)
With so much happening over Carnival Weekend we feel there will be events for everyone in the village, as well as all the visitors are welcome.
So why not come and join in the fun and celebration of village life and traditional family entertainment. Everyone is invited
Sunday 11 August |
Setting Up Our team of volunteers will be on the recreation ground from 2pm to start setting up for the Carnival weekend, if you have an hour to spare please come along and help! |
Monday 12 August |
Bottle Collecting Volunteers will be out around the village doing the annual bottle collection, we would be grateful if each house would consider donating a bottle, tin or can which will be used as a prize at the Tombola. |
Wednesday 14 August |
The Wells will be completed and on show for all to see. Find out more about the ancient art of Well Dressing.
Flower Festival (14-20 August) St Lawrence Church will be open with their usual fantastic displays of flowers, click here for opening hours.

With dodgems, Waltzer, Fun House and lots of your family favourite it wouldn't be Carnival without the Fair. See opening hours here.
There will be a service in St Lawrence Church at 6.30pm followed by procession through the village during which the Wells and the Fair will be blessed followed by Maypole dancing on the Village Green.

Thursday 15 August |
Come and try your luck at our family Bing and Quiz Night situated in the main marquee in the Recreation Ground. Licensed bar available. Doors open from 6pm. Eyes down 6.30pm, quiz at 8pm.

Friday 16 August |
Screening Dirty Dancing on a huge screen on the Recreation Ground. Licensed bar and food available. Please bring your own seating. For more information and to book tickets click here. Doors open from 6.30pm. Screening to begin at 8.30pm (approx.)

Saturday 17 August |
The highlight of the week is here and with so much happening in the village make sure you arrive early to see it all.
As well as what is listed below make sure you call in to see the Flower Festival, Well Dressings, Fun Fair or visit one of our fantastic pubs!
The Parade Setting off from Springfield Road at the earlier time of 1pm. Floats are asked to be there for 12.30pm. Please be aware that the road through the village will be closed 12.45pm - 2.45pm.
The Field We're asking for your help to ensure that we can get people on to the field as quickly as possible. Pre buy a ticket from local pubs and cafes.
Attractions on the field include: The Mighty Smith, Maynard Flip Flap, Kimmo Children's Entertainer, Barlow Red Barrows, Vintage Cars and Bikes, Fancy Dress Competition, Carnival Queens, Bar, Hog Roast, Street Food and Refreshments, Craft Stalls, Coconut Shy, Splat a Rat and much much more!
Are you ready to Rock? We're finishing the day off in style with a live concert featuring Atomic and Loxleigh Tickets are required to stay on the field after 6.30pm, tickets must be bought in advance here.

Family Fun Day (All events on the Recreation Ground)
Market From 10am and in addition to the craft stalls we will have local businesses and charities showcase their produce and wares.
Dog Show From 10am in support and hosted by Guide Dogs Chesterfield, this promises to be a popular event with many categories.
Old Skool Sports Day From 1pm. Get the gang together and raise money for Ashgate Hospice, for more information and to enter your team.
