The Carnival is here again and we hoping this summer spell just holds on… (even though on Wednesday we ‘Bless the Wells’, which is a traditional ceremony, giving thanks for our water and hoping it will always be there for us.)
With so much happening over Carnival Weekend we feel there will be events for everyone in the village, as well as all the visitors are welcome.
So why not come and join in the fun and celebration of village life and traditional family entertainment. Everyone is invited.
Before the parade, do make sure that you visit the 3 Well Dressings and also the wonderful flower arrangements in St Lawrence and Barlow & Cutthorpe Methodist Church.
On your way, look out for those famous scarecrows which may be hiding anywhere! See how many you can find.
Don’t miss the parade of floats, fancy dress, Castle Silver band, The Urban Gypsies and village Royalty which starts at Springfield Road at 2pm, progressing through the village and finishes at the Recreation Ground, ready for the afternoons entertainment which includes the wonderful collection of classic vehicles, as well as more live music from the Sheffield Samba Band. Children’s entertainer The Great Lorenzo will be there again entertain us all – young and old alike. This year also look out for Sam the Market Cart Horse in the parade and the Hawkeye Birds of Prey on the field. Also not to miss – the numerous displays and side stalls on the field.
Whatever the weather – have fun, stay safe & see you again next year!
