The Carnival is here again and we are hoping that some nice summer weather makes an appearance (even though on Wednesday we ‘Bless the Wells’, which is a traditional ceremony, giving thanks for our water.)
With so much happening over Carnival Weekend we feel there will be events for everyone in the village, as well as all the visitors are welcome.
So why not come and join in the fun and celebration of village life and traditional family entertainment. Everyone is invited
|Sunday 8 August||
Our team of volunteers will be on the recreation ground from 2pm to start setting up for the Carnival weekend, if you have an hour to spare please come along and help!
|Monday 9 August||
Volunteers will be out around the village doing the annual bottle collection, we would be grateful if each house would consider donating a bottle, tin or can which will be used as a prize at the Tombola.
|Wednesday 11 August||
The Wells will be completed and on show for all to see. Find out more about the ancient art of Well Dressing.

There will be a service in St Lawrence Church at 6.30pm followed by procession through the village during which the Wells and the Fair will be blessed followed by Maypole dancing on the Village Green.

Come and try your luck at our family Bing and Quiz Night situated in the main marquee in the Recreation Ground. Licensed bar available.
Doors open from 6pm. Eyes down 6.30pm, quiz at 8pm.
|Friday 13 August||
For the first time every we are hosting our very own Open Air Cinema. Screening the Greatest Showman on a huge screen on the Recreation Ground. Licensed bar, food and popcorn available. Please bring your own seating. Tickets must be bought in advance here.
Doors open from 6pm. Screening to begin at 8.30pm (approx.)
|Saturday 14 August||
The highlight of the week is here and with so much happening in the village make sure you arrive early to see it all.
As well as what is listed below make sure you call in to see the Flower Festival, Well Dressings, Fun Fair or visit one of our fantastic pubs!
Setting off from Springfield Road at 2pm. Floats are asked to start assembling from 12noon with judging taking place at 2pm. Please be aware that the road through the village will be closed 1.45pm - 3.30pm.
We're asking for your help to ensure that we can get people on to the field as quickly as possible. Pre buy a programme to speed up entry, plus its cheaper! Programmes are £1 when pre-bought or £2 on the day. Each programme admits either 1 adult or 2 children.

BMX Stunt Bike Display Team, Barlow Red Barrows, Vintage Cars and Bikes, Fancy Dress Competition, Carnival Queens, Bar, Hog Roast, Street Food and Refreshments, Craft Stalls, Coconut Shy, Fun Bus, Splat a Rat and much much more!
Are you ready to Rock? We're finishing the day off in style with a live concert featuring Blaze, The Nutty Boys and Escape Plan.
Tickets are required to stay on the field after 7pm, tickets must be bought in advance here.
|Sunday 15 August||
From 10am and in addition to the craft stalls we will have local businesses and producers to showcase their produce and wares.
From 12noon in support and hosted by Guide Dogs for the Blind, this promises to be a popular event with many categories.
Various competitions throughout the day including children's banking competition, garden on a plate, vegetable sculpture, brick sculpture. All entries to the village hall by 12.45pm.
The Great Barlow Snail Race
The races get underway from 1pm at the Village Hall, be sure to bring your own nurtured and trained snail.
It's a Knock Out
From 1pm we will be hosting It's a Knockout in support of Ashgate Hospice. Sponsored teams with lots of inflatables and water!
